ESTHER Switzerland works through institutional health partnerships, which are financed by grants.
The main focus of ESTHER Switzerland is supporting hospitals. However, our partnerships can also bring together other health service providers in primary care, as well as NGOs and researchers interested in collaborating on health system strengthening (HSS) and improved population health and Universal Health Coverage (UHC).
Working with different types of institutions allows different entities with distinctive expertise to work and learn together. Each organisation can focus on what it does best, and together they can develop synergies to have a higher impact.
The goal of long-term institutional health partnerships is strengthening systems in LMICs, rather than providing short-term support. ESTHER Switzerland contributes to the implementation of the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), with a particular focus on SDG 3 (ensure healthy lives and promote well-being for all at all ages) and on SDG 17 (strengthen the means of implementation and revitalize the global partnership for sustainable development).
